A month ago, I wrote a post reflecting on success and how far I’ve come since I decided to start releasing music.
Two weeks ago, I wrote a post about writing down the good things so we don’t forget them.
This week I needed those posts, because I have been dripping in uncertainty and self-doubt.
I write often about how hard it has been for me to speak up about my music, my shows, even this newsletter because of my fear of being met with blank stares, disapproval and judgment.
I know that my carefree, creative dreams do not reflect society’s ideas of someone in my current life station (early 40s mom/professional). The fear of being mocked or “othered” runs deep.
A while back, I recognized my meekness and I decided to meet it with courage; Every time I’m given an opportunity to discuss my creative work I consider it a test.
Can I step into self-worth in this moment and proudly proclaim who I am and what I am doing in the world?
Sometimes the answer is YES! But this past weekend, the answer was a dejected NOPE.
